Our Story

CREATION of a rainbow

Rainbow Taverna was originally established as a café-bar in 1987 by Yiannis Ioannidis and his wife Chrysoula. With hard work and dedication came success and it seemed a natural progress not only to start a family but to develop the business further. So, 1994 became a very busy year with the birth of a baby and a restaurant. Two more children subsequently followed, and the family business was born.

Yiannis first learnt his cooking skills in the army before working as a chef aboard a ship and travelling to the likes of America and India which helped to give him an international influence. Back in Greece, Culinary School added to his expertise and repertoire in the kitchen, meanwhile Chrysoula excelled as “front of house” and the bookwork side of the company.

Their teamwork along with help from other family members has produced an excellent eatery which has now been successfully running for over 30 years. Their children have grown up within the restaurant environment and are poised to carry the torch for this family business.
